Workshop Details​​

5 sessions conducted live on Zoom (30+ hours of instruction).

Step-by-step instruction will guide every part of the icon writing process.

Daily morning prayer, curated for this icon, will enrich the spiritual experience.

Supply package will be mailed 1-2 weeks in advance of the retreat via USPS Priority Mail.

Supply package includes an 8x10" gessoed wooden panel & instructional packet.

Icon Details​​

The icon we will paint together is the centerpiece of a triptych. It is undated and anonymous, but is thought to be from the mid to late 17th Century. It is a beautiful example of the First Gondar style - one of the key developmental periods in Ethiopian iconography. There is so much to love about this icon! The elegance of the elongated figures (and fingers!), the angels flanking the Virgin, the bold colors, and that pattern in Mary's robes! Come join the fun and learn something new!
